I think I know what yous mean. I bought a sideboard at an auction sale that had an "one-time" odour. I used dishes of blistering soda, java grounds, and put in eucalyptus. I wasn't really happy with any of those, only they all helped. Additionally, I would endeavor activated charcoal, and perchance washing out the inside with baking soda and water, or perhaps vinegar and water. (Don't mix the two.) Eventually, I re-sold the sideboard, and so it became some one else's problem.

I had the same problem and I sprinkled baking soda on the floor of the cabinets and left it there for a month or more than. You tin can wipe information technology out and add together more if you still discover the smell.
Later on that handling if you all the same have a scent, paint or varnish the interior of the chiffonier.

Nosotros bought a home built in 1978 and had the same trouble. Since there were many cabinets the toll of replacement was out of the question. I used a ten% bleach to 80% h2o spray to clean them out. Subsequently letting them dry thoroughly (overnight) I painted them with a high gloss paint no primer needed. I recommend using two coats. The cabinets smell fresh and expect prissy inside.

There's something you can become at Staples called "Air Sponge." It's but a canister. You remove the hat and put it in the cabinet and information technology helps remove the smell.
You lot might try information technology. I like the idea of the laminate tiles, but they might not work unless you deodorize a bit first. Good luck.

Effort using some vinegar to wash it with, leaving some in the forest (non wiping information technology totally dry out). If that doesnt' piece of work, try sealing the wood with varnish, pinnacle and bottom side.
